First Lady Michelle Obama and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack unveiled the MyPlate icon in June 2011. The new icon is designed to help Americans make healthier food choices. The new icon also comes along with 10 dietary guidelines for healthy eating, such as enjoy your food but eat less, drink water instead of sugary drinks, and make half your grains whole grains.
