mycophenolate mofetil suspension-oral (cont.)
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: ulcers or stomach problems (e.g., hemorrhage, perforation), kidney problems, liver problems, any allergies. This drug may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. Because this medication can decrease your immune system function, do not have immunizations/vaccinations without the consent of your doctor and avoid contact with people who have recently received live vaccines (e.g., oral polio vaccine). This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, use a sunscreen, and wear protective clothing when outdoors. This medicine may contain aspartame. If you have phenylketonuria (PKU) or any other condition where you must restrict your intake of aspartame (or phenylalanine), consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding the safe use of this medicine. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the drug. This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Women of childbearing potential should use two effective forms of birth control before, during, and for six weeks after taking this drug. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information. It is not known if this drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this medication is not recommended.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: antacids, oral antibiotics, cholestyramine, azathioprine, probenecid, acyclovir, ganciclovir, live vaccines. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly. Symptoms of overdose include: severe vomiting.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with others. Keep all scheduled medical appointments. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., blood counts) will be performed to monitor your progress and side effects.
