Patient Comments: Adenovirus 14 - Signs and Symptoms

What were the signs and symptoms associated with adenovirus 14 in you, a friend, or relative?

Comment from: Janeke, 3-6 Female (Caregiver) Published: December 16

My 3 year old was diagnosed with adenovirus and was hospitalized for 3 days after severe high fever for 7 days. The virus spread in her bladder, eyes, respiratory system and started to develop into meningitis. She was so ill, had not eaten for 5 days, was crying a lot and the fever was 39.9 at most times; no fever medication could reduce it. She has been placed on drip with aggressive antibiotics to help break down the virus.

I had a rapid onset of muscle aches, chills, and a sore throat, along with a persistent hacking nonproductive cough and fatigue. All symptoms except the cough were gone in about 10 days.
