FluMist is a nasal vaccine to protect against infection with the influenza virus which causes "flu". FluMist is an "attenuated" vaccine, which means it contains live influenza virus that has been weakened. FluMist is only effective against the strains of influenza virus that are included in it. FluMist vaccine does not prevent 2009 H1N1 influenza (swine flu).
