After my delivery, I developed a hernia. I had surgery for that. I was feeling so good, then after 10 years, I started feeling symptoms of a hernia again. I had another checkup and found out I have another hernia. Now I'm scheduled for another operation. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I got a hernia repair with open surgery. It was a big hernia in the groin that needed two meshes. I was recovering fine until I moved the wrong way or was coughing a lot. Then inflammation occurred and has not stopped ever since. It has been three years of up and down pain. The summer I got a hernia repair on the other side via laparoscopic, but I got a hematoma and later I was healing fine. Then I got a sinus infection, and now I get pain on both sides! I had an epigastric hernia which was discovered a month after child delivery. I am now 7 weeks post-operation and I feel very strong now. The weakness is gone and I don't regret deciding on surgical repair without delay. The wound is healed, and I resumed work only two weeks after delivery. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I am 96 hours past my surgery for a hernia repair on the left-side stomach area. I have had an injection for what the doctor said was nerve pain. The pain got worse after the injection, and they want to do another injection. I have never endured pain like this before in my life. I am pretty good until I stand up and start to move about. The pain increases until I can't even straighten up and have to walk hunched over. Pain pills don't work. I was told that this is normal. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I am a walking hernia. Total of 6 surgeries. 2 that were open. 1 was through laparoscopy. Then I had an intestine strangled due to the hernia. Most painful situation! Had 1 more open, then my biggest repair was the pulling together of my stomach muscles and having them sewed. I've had many and I'm so disgusted that they keep returning! So many operations, so much pain and recovery I've been through, and this has been going on for the past 8 years! I can't take much more of this and they keep returning. Wish there was something they could do to help me. Was this comment helpful?Yes

My husband has developed a huge hernia on his right lower side. He has diabetes, two kidney transplants, 1 pancrease transplant and was dialysis for 4 years. He is over weight. The doctors in this area refuse to touch it. He has to wear big clothes in order to cover the hernia. He is 55 years old. Need some suggestions. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I recently had hernia surgery and I had the mesh applied nine months later. I'm at the doctor for an infection now my biggest fear is that the mesh will get infected. Was this comment helpful?Yes

My mother in law has two large hernia's that the doctors say cannot be fixed-she has a colostomy and is 79 years old-the doctors tell her that she needs to stay close to hospital because she could bleed to death if it starts bleeding. It seems as though there could be some kind of treatment. Doctors in our area say not.
