Laparoscopic Repair with Mesh for Femoral Hernia. I was surprised at how much pain I had after plus my stomach, pelvic region and thigh were bruised, swollen, and I ran a low grade fever for one week. It was my understanding that I would be up and about the day after surgery with less pain etc. I spent a week applying cold packs, took tylenol every 4 to 6 hrs to lower fever and than benadryl for a severe itch. I had a mesh repair done for my ventral hernia (which was quite large and incarcerated). I was not prepared for the pain after surgery or for the length of recovery. My stomach was very swollen for several weeks. I started to do normal housework too early and ended up straining a muscle in my upper abdomen which resulted in an even longer recovery time. I have had a hernia operation last year. At my 6 week check up I was told I had a groin hernia. I now have a lot of pain on my right hand side and feel sick most of the time. I also have pain under my ribs. I don't know if I should go to the doctor. I feel that there would be nothing they could do. Was this comment helpful?Yes
