USES: Goserelin is used to treat prostate cancer in men and breast cancer or womb problems (endometriosis) in women.
HOW TO USE: This medication is given as an injection by trained medical personnel. The dose is injected just under the skin in the stomach. The 3.6 mg dose is injected every 28 days while the 10.8mg dose is injected every 12 weeks. For best results, adhere to the dosing schedule as closely as possible. Keep all doctor's appointments. Do not stop using this medication without your doctor's permission.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication causes an increase in bone pain and symptoms of prostatic cancer during the first few weeks of treatment. As your body adjusts to the medication, the symptoms will disappear. This medication may cause hot flashes, headache, stomach upset, difficulty urinating, weight gain, swelling and tenderness of breasts, decreased erections, reduced sexual desire. Notify your doctor if these symptoms continue or become bothersome. Notify your doctor if you develop any of the following while taking this medication: rapid heart rate, chest pain, fever, chills, painful urination. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: severe headache, vision changes, severe drowsiness, unusual or one-sided weakness. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: breathing difficulty, skin rash, hives, itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
