PRECAUTIONS: Before taking fosamprenavir, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or to amprenavir; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heart problems (coronary artery disease, heart attack), lipid problems (high cholesterol or triglycerides/fats), blood disorders (hemophilia), diabetes, kidney problems (such as kidney stones), liver disease.Children may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug, especially vomiting.This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Because breast milk can transmit HIV, do not breast-feed.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur: alfuzosin, cisapride, delavirdine, ergot drugs (e.g., dihydroergotamine, ergotamine), etravirine, midazolam, pimozide, ranolazine, certain rifamycins (rifampin, rifapentine), certain "statin" drugs for cholesterol (lovastatin, simvastatin), St John's wort, triazolam.If you are currently using any of these medications, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting fosamprenavir.Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: other anti-HIV drugs (such as amprenavir, efavirenz, indinavir, lopinavir/ritonavir, nelfinavir, nevirapine, saquinavir), anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., alprazolam, diazepam), artemether-lumefantrine, bosentan, atorvastatin, rosuvastatin, azole antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), calcium channel blockers (e.g., diltiazem, nifedipine, verapamil), colchicine, dexamethasone, drugs to treat erectile dysfunction/pulmonary hypertension (such as sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil), erythromycin, ethinyl estradiol, fluticasone, drugs that suppress the immune system (e.g., cyclosporine, tacrolimus, rapamycin), drugs for irregular heartbeat (e.g., amiodarone, flecainide, IV lidocaine, propafenone, quinidine), garlic supplements, methadone, paroxetine, rifabutin, salmeterol, anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin), temsirolimus, trazodone, tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline), anti-ulcer medicines (e.g., H2 blockers such as ranitidine, cimetidine), warfarin.This medication may cause hormonal birth control (pills, patch, ring) to work less well. This effect can result in pregnancy. To help prevent pregnancy and reduce the risk of spreading HIV to others, always use effective barrier protection (latex or polyurethane condoms, dental dams) during all sexual activity (see also Notes section).
