GENERIC NAME: FORMALDEHYDE - TOPICAL (for-MAL-de-hyde)

USES: This medication is used as an antiperspirant to treat feet that sweat or smell excessively. It is also used as a drying agent during wart treatment.

HOW TO USE: This medication is for use on the skin only. Do not shake the container. Apply generally once daily to affected skin; or as directed by your doctor. Keep this medication away from your eyes, nose, and mouth. If contact occurs on these areas or skin that should not be treated, rinse thoroughly with soap and water. If a skin reaction occurs even after rinsing, contact your doctor promptly. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same time each day. If your condition persists or worsens, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

SIDE EFFECTS: Irritation or redness of the skin may occur. Skin lightening or hardening may also occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. A serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: severe rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Before taking formaldehyde, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this medication. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
