USES: This medication is used to treat tuberculosis in combination with other anti-tuberculosis drugs.
OTHER USES: This drug may also be used for treating other mycobacterial infections.
HOW TO USE: Take by mouth exactly as directed, from one to three times per day for a minimum of 6 months. Follow your medication label instructions. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Do this by taking the medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and night. It is critical to take this medication and the other TB drugs until the full prescribed treatment is finished even if symptoms have disappeared. Stopping the medication too early will allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection. Refill your prescription as directed. Consult your pharmacist. It is recommended to take pyridoxine (vitamin B6) along with this drug. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about this.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness or metallic taste might occur. If these persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Changing the time of the dosage may relieve some side effects. Unlikely but report promptly: depression. Very unlikely but report promptly: numbness or tingling of the hands and feet, seizures, shakiness, hallucinations, vision problems, yellowing of the eyes or skin, rash, mouth sores, sun sensitivity ("sunburn"), unusual bruising. Diabetics should monitor more closely for low blood sugar symptoms. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
