Esophageal pH Monitoring Index

Featured: Esophageal pH Monitoring Main Article

Esophageal pH monitoring is a procedure for measuring the reflux (regurgitation or backwash) of acid from the stomach into the esophagus. The Esophageal pH test is used to diagnose gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and to determine if the acid is responsible for symptoms such as cough, hoarseness, and sore throat. Side effects of the procedure are few but may include mild discomfort in the back of the throat while the catheter is placed, and swallowing.
