Patient Comments: Meningitis - Experience

Please describe your experience with meningitis.

Comment from: Mr Noinkle, Female (Patient) Published: March 17

I experienced sudden profound hearing loss in one ear. I was put onto a mega dose of cortisone with no result. It led to MRI scan, then lumbar puncture, and then 7 days in hospital with drip for viral meningitis. I experienced no classic symptoms at all from initial hearing loss till after discharge from hospital (duration of maybe 3 weeks or more), then I had violent headaches at night and general feeling of being unwell plus very strange recurring feeling like cramps in my brain which eventually subsided.
