enalapril-diltiazem extended release-oral (cont.)

PRECAUTIONS: Before using this drug, tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies (especially drug allergies), heart or blood vessel problems, kidney disease, asthma or other lung disease, liver disease, intestinal problems (e.g., severe narrowing), gout, diabetes, very low blood pressure. Limit alcohol intake as it may enhance certain side effects of this medication. Also avoid excessive sweating (such as very hot weather or heavy exercise) unless you drink enough extra fluids. Since this drug may cause dizziness or fatigue, use extreme caution if operating machinery or performing hazardous tasks (e.g., driving). To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. This product should be used only when clearly needed during the first 3 months of pregnancy. This product is not recommended for use during the last 6 months of pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using this product. This product is excreted into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast- feeding. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially of: diuretics (e.g., amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene), potassium supplements, other blood pressure medications (e.g., propranolol), digoxin, trimethoprim-containing medications (e.g., sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim), certain psychiatric medications (e.g., lithium), certain anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), cimetidine, cyclosporine, drugs for irregular heartbeats (antiarrhythmics) such as disopyramide or quinidine, aspirin-like pain drugs (e.g., ibuprofen), drugs for sleep (e.g., triazolam), sedatives, tranquilizers, drugs for anxiety (e.g., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), St John's wort. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
