Patient Comments: Dementia - Diagnosis

What tests or exams led to a diagnosis of dementia in a relative or friend?

My dad was diagnosed with dementia by one doctor, but he would not accept it. He got a 2nd opinion and this doctor said nothing was wrong with him. He is 83 and we don't know what doctor we go by. We agree with the first doctor as we notice the changes. He agrees with the 2nd doctor.

My mother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (AD). She will not accept the diagnosis and is resisting any help.
