daunorubicin citrate liposome-injection (cont.)
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: any previous cancer, prior use of anthracycline drugs (e.g., daunorubicin, doxorubicin), blood cell problems (low blood cell counts such as neutropenia), heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease. This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcohol intake because it can intensify the dizziness or drowsiness effects of this medication. Because this medication can lower your body's ability to fight an infection, do not touch your eyes or the inside of your nose without first washing your hands. Do not have immunizations/vaccinations without the consent of your doctor and avoid contact with people who have recently received oral polio vaccine. Use caution with sharp objects like safety razors or nail cutters and avoid activities such as contact sports to lower the chance of getting cut, bruised or injured. This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. In addition, it is recommended that you not become pregnant while using this medication. Consult your doctor for more details. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: drugs causing drowsiness such as medicine for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines, anti-seizure drugs, muscle relaxants and antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine). Check the labels carefully on all your medicines (e.g., cough- and-cold products) because they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients. Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of those products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly. Symptoms of overdose may include: very severe vomiting and sedation (severe drowsiness).
