USES: Cetrorelix is used in women undergoing fertility treatments (controlled ovarian stimulation). It helps control the hormone levels that cause an egg to release from the ovaries (prevents premature ovulation).
HOW TO USE: Learn how to prepare and inject the drug and review the cetrorelix patient information leaflet with your doctor or pharmacist. Inject this medication under the skin (subcutaneously) as directed by your doctor. It is best given in the area of the stomach/abdomen (around your navel). Cetrorelix can be given as either a one-time, single dose or by using smaller doses once daily for several days. Your dosage and length of treatment is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely. Consult your pharmacist.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea; headache; or pain, redness, irritation, and itching at the injection site may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: swelling/pain/cramping of the stomach (abdomen). If you notice any other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: any allergies (especially to hormones and/or mannitol). This medication must not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
