GENERIC NAME: CAPSICUM - TOPICAL

USES: Capsicum has been used for muscle or joint pain. Some herbal/diet supplement products have been found to contain possibly harmful impurities/additives. Check with your pharmacist for more details regarding the particular brand you use. The FDA has not reviewed this product for safety or effectiveness. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.

HOW TO USE: Apply to the skin. Do not apply to injured skin. Do not apply heat to the affected area after using this product. Avoid contact with mucous membranes (e.g., nose or mouth) or the eyes. Wash hands thoroughly with warm water and soap or vinegar after use or wear gloves when applying the product. To avoid damage to skin and nerves, do not use this product for longer than 2 days. Wait 14 days before reapplying the product to the same location. If your condition persists or worsens or if you think you may have a serious medical problem, seek immediate medical attention.

SIDE EFFECTS: Reddening or burning sensation of the skin may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Very unlikely but report promptly: persistent loss of feeling at the application site, rash, blisters, itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: If you have any allergies (especially to paprika preparations), consult your doctor before using this product. This product is not recommended for use in young children, as they may be more sensitive to its effects (e.g., skin irritation). This product should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known whether this product is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially of: other skin products.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly.
