I developed vaginal group B strep with an upper respiratory infection. I had no other symptoms besides discharge. The key is to keep the vaginal area balanced and don't eat sugar. Yogurt makes my symptoms worse; I question whether the sugar in it or acidophilus is not great for BV? The only things that worked for me was DanActive and Attune bars. Was this comment helpful?Yes

For about two or three years I've been dealing with a smelly odor and discharge, usually occurring the day after intercourse and after a period. I would get reoccurring UTIs (talk about horrible) thankfully I don't get those anymore, but I still sometimes have discharge and an odor sometimes fishy, I ruled out STD, haven't been diagnosed with BV but I'm sure that's what it is. Plan on going to see the doctor… Was this comment helpful?Yes

I'm a 42-year-old woman and I recall that after the birth of my first child (some 24 years ago), I've been getting that awful problem. I take showers at least twice a day, but then it dawned on me (after all these years) that maybe it's the scented body washes that I'm showering with, so I switched to Johnson's baby body wash, and guess what ladies? It's a total improvement! No more wearing panty liners! No more daily discharge, itching, and embarrassing odor. Changing the body wash was the best thing that I've could have done for myself. I've also been told that the vagina is pretty much self-cleaning, so it's not necessary to scrub yourself to death with perfumed, irritating washes. Was this comment helpful?Yes

The symptom for BV is embarrassing because the odor is very strong! I have been having it now for four months. Metronidazole (Flagyl) should work, though I'm currently waiting for better results because it's extremely smelly. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I've been diagnosed with BV several times within the last several years. Never had an STD or any major health problems. I live a very active and healthy lifestyle yet I always get these horrible infections. My symptoms are fishy odor, pelvic pain, discharge -- a lot-- especially after sex. It is so embarrassing to even have sex with my boyfriend whom I've been dating for several years. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I have been getting bacterial vaginosis now on and off for two years. I recently got BV again and took the pills, and two weeks later went back to the doctor and still had BV. Then the doctor gave me the cream and after taking the cream, I thought it was gone. Today, I still have symptoms and I think I still have it. Why won't it go away?! I've been treated in the past and it always went away after treatment and wouldn't show up sometimes for a year. This time though I am a little scared of why nothing seems to be working. I am 19, married, and have only been sexually active with one partner. My doctor diagnosed me with BV when I went in for my PAP for the first time to get on birth control. I have no idea how I got it, because I never douched. She told me it could have been because of soap/baths and since I smoke. I don't have any noticeable symptoms, except for a white discharge every now and then. It never even smelled bad. But I took pills two times a day for seven days and have been fine ever since.
