I suffered from a burst appendix. I went to the emergency room where I had a CT scan done. My doctor did not remove my appendix. I have not had surgery and did not have drains put in. I was only on antibiotics. I asked my doctor why he did not remove my appendix; he stated that when it is burst he has never heard of removing it. I still have my appendix and so far so good. (3 months after my appendix burst). Was this comment helpful?Yes

I am a 57 year old female. My symptoms began on a saturday which were stomach pain (severe) and throwing up. I ended up in the emergency room and received drugs, and IV and a diagnosis of food poisoning. After spending hours in the emergency room and returning home around 5 am I went to sleep for a few hours. By Sunday afternoon the pain was gradually returning. Sunday night the pain was worse but I was not throwing up. Monday morning I drove an hour home and went straight to my doctor. He told me the episodes I had were a "red herring" he felt I had appendicitis and instructed me to go straight to the emergency room. Turns out that's exactly what I had. Hope this information helps someone. I could have died had that "severely inflamed" appendix ruptured. I feel very blessed!! Was this comment helpful?Yes

Just released from hospital, don't wait if you have the slightest symptoms a CT scan can confirm. I had severe abdominal pains that went away except for some soreness. I was diagnosed the next day with a CT scan. The surgeon said I was lucky, it was near bursting. Take this seriously my neighbor died from it.
