Antidepressants or medications for depression are medications prescribed for treating depression. There are several drug classes of antidepressants including monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Side effects, drug interactions, warnings and precautions should be reviewed prior to taking any medication.
