DRUG INTERACTIONS: Certain medications taken with this product could result in serious, even fatal, drug interactions. Avoid taking MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) during, or within 14 days of taking this medicine. Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline, nortriptyline), blood pressure medicine (e.g., beta-blockers), other stimulant medications (e.g., methylphenidate), meperidine. Certain foods and drugs can affect the amount of acid in your stomach/intestine and increase or decrease (depending on the drug) the absorption of this medicine. Tell your doctor if you take any of these products: fruit juices, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), sodium bicarbonate, ammonium chloride, sodium acid phosphate, anti-ulcer medicine (e.g., H2 blockers such as famotidine and ranitidine, PPIs such as omeprazole and lansoprazole), antacids, methenamine, acetazolamide. Check the labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products, diet aids) because they may contain ingredients that could increase your heart rate or blood pressure. Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of these products. Avoid drinking large amounts of beverages containing caffeine (e.g., coffee, tea, colas). Caffeine can increase the side effects of this medication. This product can affect the results of certain lab tests (e.g., corticosteroid levels). Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use this drug. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe mental/mood changes, confusion, severe or persistent headache, severe restlessness, fast breathing.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., blood pressure) may be performed to monitor your progress. If used for ADHD, it is recommended that you attend a total treatment program that includes educational, psychological, and social/behavioral treatments.
