DRUG INTERACTIONS: See also How to Use section.Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.Many drugs besides amiodarone may affect the heart rhythm (QT prolongation), including dofetilide, pimozide, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol, macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin), quinolone antibiotics (such as levofloxacin), among others. (See also Precautions section.)Other medications can affect the removal of amiodarone from your body, which may affect how amiodarone works. Examples include azole antifungals (such as itraconazole), cimetidine, protease inhibitors (such as indinavir), rifamycins (such as rifampin), St. John's wort, among others.Amiodarone can slow down the removal of other medications from your body, which may affect how they work. Examples of affected drugs include beta blockers (such as propranolol), calcium channel blockers (such as diltiazem, verapamil), clopidogrel, cyclosporine, digoxin, phenytoin, certain "statin" drugs (atorvastatin, lovastatin, simvastatin), trazodone, warfarin, among others.This document does not contain all possible interactions.
