I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and have a tooth infection. I went to my doctors and he prescribed me Clindamycin but cause I am allergic to penicillin and sulfur. It says to take 1 pill every 6 hours. 3rd pill into it I woke up with my left cheek swollen. I called my doctor's office and left a message and am waiting to hear back from him but I am tremendously concerned. Does this mean it is getting worse? I don't want any adverse effects happening to my baby if this is not normal. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I had no symptoms apart from feeling a lot of pressure on the right top side of my mouth as if I had clamped my teeth shut at night after 3 bouts of this I had it again but the pressure pain got worse and worse until it was unbearable it all happened in one evening my face swelled up from under my right eye to my jaw so I looked like a hamster with food pouches! Went to the dentist had root canal and told me I had an abscess! Root canal was pleasurable considering the pain I was in! The pain has died down but still there my swollen face is very tender still and showing no signs of going down. I am on antibiotics! I also feel shaky and nauseous this is only day 1!! Out of nowhere my bottom left jaw started to hurt. It felt like all of my bottom left teeth were moving. The next day it was just my left eye tooth it hurt so bad I was in tears. When the pain got really bad it moved all the way into my ear. Worst pain I have ever experienced. Later that day I felt nauseous and dizzy. The next morning I woke up and my 2nd molar is killing me and my throat was swollen and I felt all around sick. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I had a crown put on my front tooth about ten years ago. Just a few days ago I was told that I had an abscessed where my crown is, but I had no pain, swelling or soreness of any kind. What I did have was constant sinus problems, earaches and swollen neck glands. So this was what was causing all my other problems. Was this comment helpful?Yes

My tooth and gums hurt so bad. I just got a root canal done two weeks ago and here the tooth beside the one also was abscessed. I got on clindamycin since I am allergic to penicillin. I was over half way done and my gum started to swell, within two days I got a white puss pocket and the pain got way worse then I went to the bathroom to look at my mouth and I was feeling so sick in my stomach and the puss pocket broke so I pushed on my mouth and pushed the white puss out. Lots of puss and some blood. I pray this gets better asap!!! Tooth pain is the worse!! Was this comment helpful?Yes

For a few years I've had a problem with a molar. It was very sensitive. Suddenly, I got terrible pain along my lower jaw, to my ear. The dentist said I had two abscesses on it, so he removed it. The dentist thought I might have dry socket, so he prescribed an antibiotic. A month later, the gums are still quite sore. I regret not trying the root canal treatment first. Last week I realized that I had an abscessed tooth and I mean talk about the worst pain I've ever been through. It has been two days of nonstop throbbing pain and I'm begging to go to the dentist tomorrow. For all those kids out there be sure to take care of your teeth because I would rather be awake getting a limb amputated than ever deal with this again.
