I experienced heat and cold sensitivity with my abscessed tooth. When I brush my teeth on the sore area, it feels OK, until I rinse my mouth out, and then the pain starts. Any contact near or towards the area of the tooth, will set off the pain. Believe me, I had to use hydrogen peroxide, and Motrin PM 200 mg at night before bedtime, just to get some relief. In the morning I can feel the aching, and it goes on throughout the day, along with bad headaches. I need an affordable dentist badly. Was this comment helpful?Yes

Believe it or not - I could not touch my cheek for weeks with an abscessed tooth. I could eat hot/cold, hard/soft. But not wash my face or put on makeup. Was this comment helpful?Yes

My husband loves cookies, candy, etc. He grew up without receiving the proper dental care. He was in the habit of eating sweets before going to bed. I use to tell him about the acidic breakdown of his enamel, if he continued to practice this bedtime ritual. 17 years later, I have 6', over 200 pound man whimpering like a baby, because he would not take care of the problem asap. Now I'm online every day, trying to find affordable care for him. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I experienced some of the worst dental pain I've ever had in my life. It was like somebody was stabbing my jaw and there was no relief from painkillers. I sat in tears at 3 am with an ice pack on my mouth. Cue Root Canal, and relief. Was this comment helpful?Yes

Three of my teeth shattered within a month. At first there was no pain, but then a few weeks later, the pain multiplied exponentially. I went to the ER and all they could do for me was write me some antibiotics and some pain meds. Being a working, normal American, I can't afford what if coverage. After a few weeks, the pain just stopped and it hasn't returned since, this concerns me because I've heard of people dying as a result of abscesses.
