To writer of 13 year old boy - look at your son's blood pressure. Some of the symptoms you listed are symptoms of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. Something to look into. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I thought it was just an intestinal bug, but my abdominal pain kept getting worse and at one point I almost passed out, the pain was that bad. That's when I figured it was time to head to the E.R. I knew I had diverticular disease. That was top on my list of causes and sure enough after a C.T. scan that is what it turned out to be. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I have an appointment with my PCP on Monday but I found this site and thought I'd post my symptoms. The pain and "weirdness" is in my right abdominal area, below my rib cage, above the pelvic region. It feels like a muscle spasm, sometimes it feels like there's something in there twisting itselt up. I call it my "alien" for lack of better description. When I get the "twisting" pain it about takes my breath away. I take chronic opiates (Vicodin or Percocet) because I have degenerative disc disease in my back (just had a third spine surgery two months ago) so I have chronic constipation from the opiates. Now I take Metamucil regularly every day just to keep my bowels moving. I'm not sure how better to describe the episodes and the pain. I'm sure she'll (my primary care doc) probably schedule a CT and then I'll have to be referred to a GI doc. Not sure what's going on but it kind of scares me because my phycologist/therapist started having abdominal pain which she ignored and by the time she ended up in surgery to see what was happening, she was full of cancer and she died six weeks later. This will sound weird but I feel like she's tapping my shoulder telling me to stop ignoring this. I know, sounds like I'm a nut job but that's what I feel. I'm mind boggled about this. Hopefully we'll find some answer for it and a solution as well. Was this comment helpful?Yes

Have been taking Suprax for a throat infection. I had a lot of abdominal pain during the course of treatment (10 days) and also diarrhea. I finished the medication 3 days ago and the pain is still quite severe. I have no idea what to take to reduce what is obviously intestinal inflammation. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I have been plagued with abdominal pains for a while and nearly always wake up in the morning aching in stomach. I am quite restless and tense in my sleep and think my recent escalation is partly due to this happening over a long period of time. I recently saw my GP because of severe cramp like pains around the naval/midriff area. Sneezing and coughing doesnt agitate this though. The pains are at their worst when I sleep, especially when moving side to side. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I have been getting sever painful attacks right between my ribcage. It feels like a muscle spasm that intensifies to the point where I vomit from the pain and run a fever. Only pain medications give me some relief. The pain intensifies when I lay down. I have to sleep sitting up when I am able to even sleep since the pain is so sever. These attacks last about 3-4 days and stop without any warning. I have had them 4 times in the past 9 months. Doctors did several tests and have not found any stones, gallbladder looked ok, upper and lower GI did not find anything. I have no clue what is causing these attacks, but the pain is so sever during them that I can't sleep, work, eat, I don't even want to talk to anyone I just want to be left alone to ride out the attack. A tightening between my ribcage, burning, like a muscle cramping feeling. Was this comment helpful?Yes

I have had a constant moderate to fairly intense dull throbbing pain in my lower left abdomen for the past eleven weeks. My Doctor thought it might be diverticulitis, so I had a contrast-non contrast abdominal and pelvic CT. The CT found no evidence of diverticulits, but it did find kidney cysts, an enlarged prostate, a non-obstructing kidney stone and some possible boney islands in the pelvis. My Prostate Specific Antigen result is extremely low, the prostate is enlarged but doesn't seem to exhibit intense prostatis symptoms. I had a colonoscopy to rule out cancer, it came back clean with a very minor polyp. But the pain is continuing and doesn't seem to let up. My Internist told me that it can't be from the kidney stone because it's still in the kidney. Anyway off to a urologist next week, but I swear this pain still seems to be gastrologic. Anyway, I guess if anyone out there has experienced this same thing and maybe found out what is causing this, I would appreciate they share what it is with me.
