abacavir/lamivudine-oral (cont.)
DRUG INTERACTIONS: This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur: zalcitabine. If you are currently using any of these medications, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting abacavir/lamivudine. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: methadone, sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim. Check the labels on all your medicines for HIV infection because they may contain the same ingredients as found in this product. Taking too much of these drugs will not necessarily improve your condition, and may cause more side effects. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly.
NOTES: Use "safe sex" practices (e.g., latex condoms). Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Do not share this medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., complete blood counts-CBC) should be performed periodically to monitor your progress and check for side effects. Liver function tests should be done both during and after stopping treatment. Consult your doctor for more details. Keep all laboratory and medical appointments.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not take the missed dose if it is within 2 hours of your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Brief storage between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
